Big O Tires Franchise Model Overview
Big O Tires stores are retail tire and automotive service centers of 4,000 to 10,000 square feet on prime retail sites, selling Big O-branded and other tires alongside brakes, alignment and related repair. The franchisor is owned by TBC Corporation, a tire distributor, and franchisees buy much of their inventory through the parent's distribution centers. This is a heavy-asset, inventory-intensive business: a leased build-out runs from the mid six figures to over two million dollars depending on construction, plus a six-figure opening inventory and up to a year of working capital. Royalty follows a matrix of 3.5 to 5 percent, with separate local and national marketing contributions. An approved operator or hired manager must complete training and run the store day to day; an equity-holding owner is not required. The system is entirely franchised and flat at roughly 460 to 470 stores. Buyers of an existing store sign the current agreement, refurbish, complete training and may need a surety bond.
