Mr. Transmission Franchise Model Overview

Mr. Transmission centers repair, rebuild and replace automatic and manual transmissions and related drivetrain components for retail customers and fleets, and many also offer general maintenance and repair, either through the sister Milex Complete Auto Care brand or as a co-branded center. The operation is a leased 4,000 to 5,000 square foot building with around six bays and lifts, so the investment is mid-six figures, much of it shop equipment, signage, leasehold work and six months of working capital. Revenue depends on diagnosing and selling large repair tickets and on building fleet relationships; the franchisor runs a mandatory outside-sales program at launch. The owner, or a designated owner holding at least a third of the business, must personally run the shop full time even if managers are hired. Required local advertising is heavy for the first three years. The U.S. system is mature and slowly shrinking, and a warranty fund deposit transfers with the center on resale.

Ideal owner profile

Full-time owner-operator; hiring a manager does not satisfy the personal supervision requirement
Automotive repair background, or the ability to recruit and keep certified transmission technicians
Comfortable with outside sales to fleets, dealers and local businesses
Mid-six-figure capital plus reserves for heavy first-three-years marketing commitments
Independent transmission or general repair shop owners looking to convert
