Style Encore Franchise Model Overview
Style Encore stores buy quality used women's and men's clothing, shoes and accessories directly from customers and resell them at well below new-retail prices, supplemented by new accessories. The franchisor is Winmark, which also runs Plato's Closet, Once Upon A Child, Play It Again Sports and Music Go Round, so the buy-sell system and resale training are mature. A typical store is 3,000 to 4,000 square feet in a strip center or small freestanding building, and the mid-six-figure investment goes mostly to fixtures, build-out, opening inventory and working capital. Royalty is a percentage of gross sales with a modest flat marketing fee, but owners must spend at least 5 percent of sales on local marketing and co-op advertising. Individual owners must be the on-site operator unless the franchisor consents otherwise; multi-store owners may use managers. The system is entirely franchised and has hovered in the high 60s for three years. Item 19 reports average annual gross sales and gross profit.
