barre3 Franchise Model Overview

barre3 studios run instructor-led group exercise classes that combine a ballet barre with Pilates and yoga movement, selling memberships, class packs and branded props and apparel. Studios are leased spaces of roughly 1,400 to 2,000 square feet in shopping centers or walkable streets, built out with a required site-selection vendor and construction manager; leasehold improvements are the largest cost, putting a new studio well into the mid-six figures, while converting an existing studio is far cheaper. One designated person must complete operator training and run the studio full time, and the owner stays personally responsible even with a manager in place. Owners and spouses sign personal guaranties. The system has grown over three years, much of it through the conversion of Barre Code and Studio Barre franchisees, with a handful of affiliate-owned studios in Oregon and New York. Transfers require franchisor consent and a transfer fee, and Item 19 reports studio gross revenue.

Ideal owner profile

Owner-operator or approved full-time studio manager; the owner remains personally accountable
Passion for barre or boutique fitness and comfort selling memberships in a local community
Experience hiring, training and scheduling part-time instructors
Mid-six-figure capital for a new build, or an existing fitness studio ready to convert
Willing to sign a personal guaranty that extends to spouses and family members
