Chester's Franchise Model Overview

Chester's Store-in-Store/Non-Trad Restaurants are quick-service chicken counters, roughly 500 square feet inside a convenience store or other retail business or about 1,200 square feet in a strip mall, food court or arena, selling bone-in chicken, filet sandwiches, tenders and sides. The franchisor is adding Supermarket and Express kiosk formats in 2026. The economics are unusual for a food franchise: no initial franchise fee beyond a small training fee, no royalty and no advertising fund, only a modest quarterly marketing support fee and required purchases of proprietary breading, product and fryer-line equipment. Investment runs from a light retrofit of an existing deli corner to a full build-out with hood and HVAC. Owners need not work the counter if a trained manager runs daily operations, and no personal guaranty is required. The agreement is only five years with no contractual right to renew. The system is entirely franchised and has shrunk by roughly 160 units over three years.

Ideal owner profile

Convenience store, travel center or retail operator adding a food program to existing space
Owner or trained manager comfortable with fryer-based food prep and food safety inspections
Low-to-mid six-figure capital, with the low end for retrofits of existing deli space
Accepts a five-year term with renewal only by mutual consent
Multi-store c-store operators can roll the program across several locations
