Travelin' Tom's Coffee Franchise Model Overview

Travelin' Tom's Coffee franchisees operate a proprietary coffee truck, the Beverage Entertainment Vehicle, serving coffees, teas, frozen drinks and related products at school and sports events, fundraisers, festivals, corporate gatherings and private bookings within an exclusive Protected Territory. The truck uses a patented self-serve flavoring station, and the concept follows the event-and-fundraiser model of sister brand Kona Ice. Most of the low-six-figure investment is the truck itself, bought new or used from the franchisor, plus initial inventory; most owners run the business from home and store the truck there. Royalties and the brand fund are flat annual amounts rather than a percentage of sales, which favors higher-volume operators. The franchisee must be an entity with a 51 percent Managing Owner who runs the truck personally for at least the first 60 days, after which an approved manager may be allowed. The system has grown rapidly since 2021, so most trucks are young. The FDD makes no financial performance representation.

Ideal owner profile

Community-connected owner who can book schools, sports leagues and fundraisers
Hands-on operator willing to run the truck personally for at least the first 60 days
Comfortable with seasonal, event-driven scheduling and weekend work
Low-six-figure capital or financing for the truck; no real estate needed
Existing Kona Ice franchisees looking to add a complementary truck in their territory
