Jamba Franchise Model Overview

Jamba stores sell fresh, blended-to-order smoothies, hot and cold beverages, fresh-squeezed juices and portable snacks from a compact storefront, typically in a shopping center, with drive-thru, non-traditional and Auntie Anne's co-branded formats also offered. The franchisor is a GoTo Foods subsidiary (formerly Focus Brands) sharing services and supply chain with Cinnabon, Auntie Anne's, Carvel, Moe's, McAlister's and Schlotzsky's. A traditional store is a leased-space build in the mid-to-high six figures, driven by construction and a six-figure blending and refrigeration equipment package. Royalty is 6 percent of net sales plus a 3 percent advertising contribution and a local marketing minimum. Owners need not work in the store, but absentee investment is discouraged; each store needs two trained managers on premises, and larger operators may need a director of operations. The system is essentially all franchised and has declined modestly each of the last three years. Item 19 reports net sales by quartile. Renewal and transfer typically trigger a remodel.

Ideal owner profile

Experience running a high-volume, hourly-staffed beverage or quick-service counter
Mid-to-high six-figure capital for a leased storefront build with a heavy equipment package
Comfortable with seasonal, daypart-driven sales and strict product and image standards
Multi-unit operators fit the Multi-Unit Addendum for three to ten stores
